Also called nasolabial folds, nose to mouth lines are often one of the first things we begin to notice as a sign of ageing.

As we get older, some of the supporting fat pads under the skin start to melt away and they do this in a specific and predictable order. The first one to go is the one that sits in the middle of the cheek directly under the eye. As a result of the deflation in this area, the skin sags a little downwards and medially (towards the nose), which creates the nasolabial fold.

As time progresses, the fat pad directly next to the nasolabial fold actually starts to gain volume, which makes the appearance of the fold even more pronounced.

treatment for nose to mouth lines

Treatment of the nasolabial fold usually involves placing dermal filler in the cheek to replace the lost fat pad and restore lift to the skin. Treatment may also involve filler injections directly into the fold itself and to the base of the nose.
